STANDARD FIVE: MANAGERIAL MANAGEMENT
School executives will ensure that the school has processes and systems in place for budgeting, staffing, problem
solving, communicating expectations and scheduling that result in organizing the work routines in the building. The school
executive must be responsible for the monitoring of the school budget and the inclusion of all teachers in the budget decisions so
as to meet the 21st century needs of every classroom. Effectively and efficiently managing the complexity of everyday life is
critical for staff to be able to focus its energy on improvement.

VA. School Resources and Budget:
The school executive establishes budget processes and systems which are focused on, and result, in improved student achievement. |
VB. Conflict management and Resolution:
The school executive effectively and efficiently manages the complexity of human interaction so that the focus of the school can be on improved student achievement. |
I engaged in several meetings with our District Director of Innovations, Erin Swanson. We discussed school resources and budget as we are planning to expand Opportunity Culture within our school. This required an evaluation of our budget, teacher allotments, and infrastructure. Understanding the budget, required me to see how we could manipulate our school budget in a way that we could fund a Multi-Classroom Leader (MCL) or a Reach Associate (RA).
VC. Systematic Communication:
The school executive designs and utilizes various forms of formal and informal communication so that the focus of the school can be on improved student achievement. I worked closely with teachers all year to help them understand the importance of our student achievement and how that impacts our overall school performance grade. I created a video to help them create a system for EOC and NCFE preparation. I spent a lot of time communicating with teachers on how to understand and analyze their data.

I spend a significant amount of time processing discipline referrals. I assisted in creating a discipline matrix that would save a lot of time in the processing process. This also created a more fluid system that would eliminate human bias. Each level offense has a base punishment. Administrative discretion is and can be used when necessary. There is some built in autonomy into the matrix depending upon the level offense.
VD. School Expectation for Student and Staff:
The school executive develops and enforces expectations, structures, rules and procedures for students and staff. I spent a significant amount of time assisting in the drafting of the of the Staff Handbook and the Student/Parent Handbook. I learned that there are many facets to this process. Through careful examination of each component of school through both a staff and student lens, I learned that all school processes and procedures require clarity so that all stakeholders are on the same page at all times.
